There is widespread concern over the increasing frequency of challenging behaviors being exhibited by young children. The number of young children in preschool with challenging behavior is one of the leading concerns of teachers, administrators and parents. This presentation is a survival program. Its goal is to give the early childhood professionals the information and skills they need to cope with challenging behaviors that occur in their program. Young children with challenging behaviors can learn appropriate ways to behave. The educational professionals who work with them and their families can make an enormous difference in their lives.
This dynamic and interactive workshop will focus on providing participants with knowledge of effective and appropriate prevention and intervention strategies for children who exhibit challenging behavior. This presentation will focus on the latest research in the field of early childhood on best practices of identifying, preventing and intervening with challenging behaviors in young children. This presentation will introduce participants to rationales, development, and implementation of the skills and techniques in working with challenging behaviors young children exhibit. Through a combination of role-playing and other active participatory methods, participants will learn how to implement these practical and effective strategies into their program to deal with the most challenging behaviors.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will identify the biological, environmental and cognitive factors that cause challenging behaviors.
Participants will be able to prevent challenging behaviors from occurring by restructuring their classroom environment and engaging their young children in active learning.
Participants will develop and implement practical strategies to deal with the most challenging behavior that occurs in their classroom.
