Ms. Axinia Zepeda, a native of Houston, Texas, grew up with her parents and younger brother. She is a proud product of Houston ISD, having attended River Oaks Elementary, Clifton Middle School, and The High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. Axinia earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies of education with a minor in psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown. She continued her education at Houston Baptist University, completing a Master of Education in Educational Administration. Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral degree in Executive Educational Leadership at Houston Christian University.
With a deep passion for education and a love for working with children, Ms. Zepeda has a diverse background. Her experience ranges from roles at the YMCA Afterschool/Summer Programs and instructional leadership within Houston ISD to her current position as Principal of an Early Childhood Center at Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success Public Charter. Before her administrative career, she dedicated seven years as a Prekindergarten teacher at Farias Early Childhood Center.
Ms. Zepeda is dedicated to transforming school culture and climate through Conscious Discipline, emphasizing the importance of teaching social and emotional skills alongside academics. She believes in providing children with a solid educational foundation to ensure their future success. With high expectations for all, including children, teachers, and leaders, she strives to improve instructional quality and educational experiences.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Axinia enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, engaging in small arts and crafts projects, and exploring the outdoors. As she continues her doctoral studies at Houston Christian University, she looks forward to collaborating with educators to enhance instruction for every child.
