Kansas raised her, Texas claimed her, and somewhere along the way she decided that the people building thinking minds and modeling human connection deserve the recognition and support that critical work demands. Marisa is a Texas Infant-Toddler Specialist who co-founded Early Childhood Collective because someone had to make research feel less like a textbook and more like a conversation. She has worked the full stretch of early childhood, from infant rooms to kindergarten, through Head Start leadership and residential care with children from hard places. That experience shapes how she shows up, not as an outside voice, but as someone in it with educators and leaders, noticing what's working and building on it. She still substitute teaches because she'd rather stay close to the work than talk about it from afar. Growth through relationships, reflection, and real talk. That's not just her philosophy. It's her practice.
